The Third and Fourth Generation

Silvia has lived in a community of deaconesses for her entire adult life. Lately she has been driving to the place where her grandfather was leader of a Nazi concentration camp. She feels there’s something wrong in her life and that the family culture and family secret is the problem. Director Lukas Zünd, a friend who shares her passion for Christian spirituality and art, joins her on this quest. Art, liturgy and therapy merge in intriguing ways as Silvia stages performances for the camera at the site of the former concentration camp. Her insistent looking into family history and into her childhood trauma lead to a turning point in the celibate woman’s life.
