Rennes, France. The month of May 2012, during the two rounds of presidential voting. France lives as if in suspended animation, devastated by five years of “sarkozisme” and dominated by extreme individualism and cynicism. Everything feels doomed. It looks as if there is no way out. But there, a few steps away from the centre of the city and from the entrance of the Théâtre national de Bretagne, a small group of young people is gathering. Eight actors will be living inside the boundaries of a small movie set. Together with the director, Vincent Dieutre himself, they try to outline a state of things and figure out the possibility of a new world. Thus a new game begins. The actors-citizens try to turn upside down the image of reality that has been created by TV. Their bodies make place for other characters. “Real life” takes the stage. The documentary becomes the witness of a conflict: a film that has yet to be made tries to tackle what is “real”. Dieutre’s film boldly questions the image of reality while using what is left of the form of the so-called “documentary”.
