Tunis, January 2011: As revolution boils in the streets of the Tunisian capital, Aida and her son Faouzi fight for survival on the fringes of society. A woman and mother marked by life and pathways leading to theft, alcohol abuse and prison, Aida has an incredible strength that allows her to pick herself up even when the violence of fate pushes her into the depths of the abyss. Without indulgence, the director shows quarrels between the protagonist and her son, as well as the complicity that appears, even during distress. The tumult in the streets contrasts with the empty rooms that Aida and Faouzi have managed to find for shelter: the instability of the country echoes the sometimes tense link between these two beings at large, abandoned by the State, and their internal struggle to stay on course. Eight months later, votes mark a new stage in the country’s process of rebirth and Aida, now employed, continues her fight, determined not to be carried away by a destiny to which she refuses to adapt.
