It is not easy to be a white collar worker in a highly competitive world and tough working environment such as the post- modern Japanese capitalistic society. “Girls just want to have fun” (as the song goes), but boys seem to be in dire need of it just as much. However, if the job is killing you there are ways of letting some steam off. Enter a flood of incredibly sexy girls whose job is to entertain weary executives and tired husbands who nonetheless harbour erotic fantasies that they do not dare to act out with their wives. Scantily clad, these girls work the Kyabakura clubs and entertain their clients with racy small talk about undies, lingerie and dubious imaginary sexual mischief. No grabbing of private parts allowed.
Everything stays verbal. Imaginary. A film about sex as a commodity, where men secretly afraid of women need to believe that they dominate them through the exhibition of money.
The economic transaction as a surrogate of an idealised virility that also mirrors the ultimate commodification of desire and relationships. A funny look into a sad world.
