Dragoslava is not a known figure from the Serbian political or cultural world: she is a woman like any other in a country that seems to be constantly in transition. Dragoslava is the protagonist of Biljana Tutorov’s film; she juggles four TV sets, three grandchildren, two best friends and a husband. Through her life and her perspective, we grasp, close-up, the changes of past and present in Serbia. She embodies a certain civic ideal that seems to have disappeared, here as elsewhere, demonstrating a commitment and a sense of responsibilities spread across everyday gestures. Dragoslava questions the authorities, the media, issues of power and our place in society. The film thus acts directly like a mirror for us all, reflecting the importance of personal commitment and civic activism to change the state of affairs. With tenderness and humour, the director creates an account, as enthusiastic as it is analytical, of a woman who, without fanfare, has become a heroine of society.
