Les Voyageurs

Hippolyte, Mandela, La Fleur, and their companions are sub-Saharan migrants trying to reach Europe — either through Ceuta, the Spanish enclave on the North African coast bordering Morocco, or from Tangier. Taking refuge in makeshift tents deep in the forest or in temporary squats, these young men, harassed by Moroccan police, see themselves as "soldiers" on a mission: to reach the "promised land" and escape poverty. David Bingong was one of them. In 2014 and 2015, he filmed his daily life alongside his companions. Now living in Madrid, he looks back on these images with a sense of distance, narrating his story in the language he has since learned. What emerges is a direct and unique perspective — a collective experience captured from within, shaped by endless attempts and shifting strategies, by fear and solidarity, and punctuated by haunting still frames. Carried by haunting, improvised songs that rage against adversity and keep hope burning, Les Voyageurs tells the story of a long and perilous journey — stripped bare, from the inside out.
