At la Mobilière, we believe that culture and the arts actively sustain our society. For that reason we’re delighted to renew our commitment as main sponsor for a further three years.
In a new addition for this year’s festival we’re launching Next Gen, a label designed specifically for 12-26 year olds, alongside Visions du Réel. Its mission is to cultivate young people’s appreciation of quality images and nurture them by broadening their understanding of the world. Next Gen also aims to foster resilience, independence and creativity through film and other media.
We’re thrilled to be embarking on this new chapter in our shared story.

Half a century of documentaries that bring us together
For over half a century now, Visions du Réel has been shedding light on the documentary genre through works that seek to foster a closeness that brings us together. These creations, which hold up a mirror to our stories and experiences, help us forge our own opinions and invite us to reflect on the world around us.
This is also one of the important missions of the SSR, the public media service: to reflect the different realities of life, strengthen openness and mutual understanding, and thus foster cohesion within society.
As traditional partners, SSR and RTS are proud to renew their support for the Festival and for documentary filmmaking, including, for the 18th consecutive year, the “Prix RTS de Soutien à la Création documentaire” (RTS award to support documentary creation), awarded to a young filmmaker in the genre. At this 56th edition of the festival, audiences will also be able to watch no fewer than 12 SSR co-productions, including 7 co-produced by RTS, on the big screen. Finally, throughout the year, a selection of documentaries labelled “Visions du Réel” can be discovered on the Play RTS and Play Suisse applications.
Enjoy the festival!

“The real needs interpretation to remain real.” – Yasmina Reza, Serge
Year after year, Visions du Réel embodies a cinematic exploration of movements in the contemporary world, whether they be those of people, ideas or trends that shape our reality. In 2025, this dynamic will be reinforced, affirming the festival as a place where the gaze of others sheds light on our own, where the wealth of viewpoints nourishes our understanding of the world.
This year’s edition will feature a major new initiative: the “Next Gen” label, which brings together activities aimed at the 12-26 age group. This programme embodies a need: education and exposure to high-quality images from an early age. Through the discovery of documentary films, encounters and workshops, the aim is to support the new generation in their exploration of cinema and visual creation, and in a genuine questioning of both themselves and others: This resides not in a selfie stick, but in the depth of our view of reality, in the acuity that enables us to broaden our perspectives and question our place in the world.
From Nyon, this land of images, thank you to Visions du Réel for continuing to tirelessly explore, question and interpret reality!

The world is going through turbulent times. Certainties are being challenged. Values are being put to the test. And this is where culture plays a vital role: It invites us to escape, for a moment, from the frantic pace of events, providing a different take on our societies, our institutions, our environment and ourselves. Visions du Réel reflects and embodies the profound changes currently sweeping through the world. The festival showcases a rich tapestry of perspectives from near and far, helping us to grasp reality and daring us to shift our outlook. It creates a stimulating space for dialogue and discussion, offering cinematic discoveries that challenge our perceptions thanks to a rich and high-calibre selection of documentary films and cultural insights.
Visions du Réel offers us the opportunity to suspend time, even if just for a moment.

Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Home Affairs
Visions du Réel’s place on the international documentary film scene continues to grow, as demonstrated by the close links between VdR and other major cinema events and the influence enjoyed by the films selected and awarded prizes each year in Nyon.
It is the fruit of the hard work put in by the festival’s incredible team, and the care they take over an engaged, high-quality selection, as well as the ongoing development of the market and, of course, the quality of the welcome accorded to film professionals. Visions du Réel has also succeeded in strengthening its foothold in Switzerland and attracting an ever-increasing number of “amateur” audiences.
Over and above the mediation activities organised to ensure that everyone has access to film, this festival is a particularly attractive meeting place, combining the seriousness of reflection, debate and emotion with the light-heartedness of exchange and celebration.
Ville de Nyon is very proud to support Visions du Réel and wishes you a wonderful 56th edition.
