Autofiction opening onto the world

The spiritual son of Chantal Akerman, Marguerite Duras, Eustache and Pasolini–or even a “brother” in arms to Naomi Kawase or Pierre Huygue–Vincent Dieutre is a literary French filmmaker who delves into the apparent banality of the visible. Whether he’s filming his Parisian district, facing up to his love stories or to stories of love lost with History, or returning, again and always, to Italy–his territory of rites of passage, where he discovered sexuality, drugs and the violence of politics. His work shares the moving geographies of the intimate to better express the collective contemporary experience.
