Stone Roof

"Stone Roof" follows Hadi, an introverted man in his early sixties who seeks a primitive and isolated life in a self-made shelter in the high altitudes of Tehran. To survive in the harsh mountain environment, Hadi has to cut down dead trees and convert them into charcoal. He trades the charcoal with Hosein, the owner of an abandoned mountain cafe, for food and other basic necessities. However, as winter approaches, Hadi's self-made utopia is threatened. He knows he will have to abandon everything he holds dear, including his new family of dogs that helped him find a sort of meaning in his struggle. Ultimately, Hadi is forced to leave his shelter and venture out alone into the unknown in search of a new place to call home.Hadi's journey is a Sisyphean struggle, much like the Sisyphus myth, where Sisyphus was condemned to roll a boulder uphill every day, only to have it roll back down every time he reached the top.
